My relationship with the natural world is respectful and we need to protect it too. I also think that nature is peaceful and its delicate. Also nature can be beautiful or ugly in my opinion as it depends on how it is treated.
I would see a landscape in the distance of cityscape or a nice layout of plants in a park, nearly everywhere you go you can find a landscape. People take pictures of nature because it is calming and peaceful, it also could spread awareness of how nature is being treated today such as the ocean being polluted and the death of plants due to global warming.
Photographs help to change the way we see things because it gives other viewers from the other side of the world see your point of view. Also it gives the viewers of the photograph insight on how you live, this also means that you can spread awareness of. the conditions of your area and to help it.

When I hear the word landscape a picture of a cityscape and a mountain view instantly appears in my mind, also in my opinion landscape pictures are best when there are buildings as it gives a variety of different options to take the picture from also it gives diversity as there are many different buildings, and plant life don't give as much freedom on how you can photograph them. Landscapes remind me of a:
city
nature
the sky
trees
scenery
architecture
roads
waterfalls
forests
nature
the sky
trees
scenery
architecture
roads
waterfalls
forests
When I search landscape and look at the images all I see is vegetation and greenery, for example a field of grass or a full forest with bushes. Also a lot of mountain tops and something I didn’t expect was water being photographed, like a lake or waterfall, in addition I like how in some photos the lighting of the sun is played with, for example the photo was taken at sunset or at night. My ideal landscape in my mind would be a city scape as that is the landscape i am most familiar to.
These are my first photographs as a response to the theme of landscapes. My main focus was aiming for a variety of angles in which to take the photographs, different vantage points. My main purpose for this photoshoot was to take a natural landscape and an urban landscape, mainly of a cityscape, a landscape but the areas surrounding the school were mainly nature so I decided to approach the task differently by taking advantage of the nature and it was a sunny day so the shadows were a nice addition as it gives the photos life. In a future task i will aim for a predominantly city scape based set of photos as the city wasn’t expressed the way i originally depicted. I also then used close ups to differentiate the angles and i didn’t want all my photos to be identical and to give the plants size. In the final result i then chose to express my photos in a square format, as it complements most of them and gives a better visual.
Landscapes
These Photos are what i had imagined on my first attempt to photograph landscapes. My main purpose for taking theses was to capture high quality landscapes of buildings and water which i have successfully achieved, i focused on finding interesting and distinct buildings or a seascape, and unlike the school there was little to no nature which wasn’t a problem as i wasn’t fixated on nature landscapes so i could approach the task how i originally planned. The weather changes throughout the day as in the morning the clouds were separated and the sun shun through them , as the day passed and the sun was gone the clouds became more thick and i was able to take great sea pictures with a reflection of the sun. Then the clouds dispersed and the sun was gone i took more photos, i also chose to use the square format as without it my photos are cut off, so in the square format it shows all phots effectively.
Dafna Talmor
The purpose of a landscape picture is to capture a scenery with a good background and lighting to complement the subject of the landscape, also preferably of high quality. In 'The valley of the shadow of death' the composition is descriptive, since there are hills in the background and foreground with a path running through it all with an addition of a clear, blank, white sky and a yellow tint to it all. overall its a dull photo however the tittle indicates an interesting story which amplifies the photo in my opinion, also the photographer is expressing himself in a simplistic way which he feels appropriate. In the 'Untitled (cowboy)' the composition is narrative, since theres a level ground with a capture of motion of a cowboy on a horse nearly leaving the frame, also the sky in the background has details with the clouds being visible. This picture overall is personal as i feel the photographer has an attachment to this subject of the picture being story telling, furthermore this picture could be of a movie as it almost looks artificial.

Constructing a landscape
Dionne Lee's Constructed Landscapes
Dionne lees work in this video is in my opinion interesting, for example she ripped her images which i would have never thought to do since my work would be messy, however Dionne Lee has taken this to her advantage by regularly folding, overlapping and ripping the images to create a piece of art. After she is done with a piece she would start a new and redo her art, this time with different photos and occasionally using scissors to cut precisely, sometimes bringing in photos from previous art pieces she created. Ive also realised that a common theme i the art she creates is outer-space which i don't usually see.
Constructed landscapes
This is my third attempt at taking pictures using Dionne Lee as inspiration. In my opinion this was my most successful version and the set i like the most, my main focus for this was to use aspects of Dionne lees work but to overall make it personalised, i did this by making a boat out of 3 of the pictures: a green one, blue one and a red one, and i had the pictures under them match the theme. Ive done this to focus in on ones of my skills to do origami which makes it unique. once i had colour appropriate pictures i ripped them and cut them to creat a different enviroment for each picture
These two photos are my favorites since they both have a top down view which creates a simplistic look that i like also how they represent opposite views as the picture on the left depicts a boat in the ocean in an abstract way, but the picture on the right conveys a boat on a field of grass which doesn’t make sense but still works in the same abstract way.

Hiroshi Sugimoto
Hiroshi Sugimoto is a well know and respected photographer for his various work pieces and galleries, today i will be researching his black and white and out of focus images. He uses a large format view camera and works in a traditional wet darkroom. Even from a young age he was taking images he started off with trains and actors. Hiroshi Sugimoto blurs his building as he wanted to highlight the outlines of the buildings.I also like his work since i have never thought to do black and white with blurs. He does this to maybe make the audience question their view of his work and make them think harder
This is my favorite photograph made by Hiroshi Sugimoto in his black and white, out of focus gallery. this is because normally i prefer the simplistic nature of photos and also the two towering buildings as the subject of the image since i like urban landscapes. Another reason why i have chosen this image is the fact that the light source illuminates behind the two tall buildings which further highlights the subject.

Ray K. Metzker - Pictus Inturuptus
Rey Metzker is a well-known photographer for his black and white photographs. One of his galleries is called Pictus Interruptus and its the project he is most know for. In this collection he takes photos in the street, he gets objects different in each photo that will cover part of the picture as its held in the foreground and will overall blocks the view, he calls his work pictus interuptus and challenges the imagination of the viewers. In a number of these photos, it is difficult to tell what the subject of the photo is, however as i said before thats not the point. This project is obviously a collection of 2D/ black and white photographs, his way of interrupting his own work interests me as it makes me try to see past the object blocking the view and opens the viewers mind, and the fact that he plays with the textures and tones.

Negative Photograph develop stop fix wash
in this task we made a minimalist landscape by taking inspiration of Liz Nielsen and Geraldo de barros Firstly i made a simple positive from a negative by taking my photo i created from black card over white paper and then i got some light sensitive photographic paper and Geraldo de barros the enlarger to transfer the image to the photographic paper then i completely submerge my image into the developer solution for 1 minute so the whole image has a strong black color and for all of it to show, then i picked up my image with it being fully developed and submerged it in the stop solution so the developer chemicals to stop working only foe 5 seconds, after that i put my image in the fix solution so the image is fixed on the paper and won’t deviate for 5 minutes, lastly i washed my picture from all passed chemicals and i washed it for as long as possible, then i used the squeegee. With this first image i created, im not completely content with the outcome however i dont mind it, in my opinion it is lacking emotion as most the image is black it doesn’t convey anything strong other than emptiness. on the other hand i like how it looks like a quiet, dark night in the city but there is much more room for improvement.
In my second attempt of the dark room work i once again copied the same image onto another piece of light sensitive photographic paper and instead of fully submerging my image i used different tools such as brushes, sponges and more to apply the developer solution with the tools and in the places where the developer has been there the longest, become the darkest and the shorter amount of time the developer has been exposed to the paper the lighter it is. After that the same procedure is done with the stop, fix solutions and wash to then dry. In my opinion i prefer this much more than my first attempt since it conveys more emotion and complexity. Also it kind of depicts a stormy night in the city witch is much mre interesting than just a normal black clank background.

Lewis Bush
These photos are from the famous photographer Lewis Bush, these photos in particular are from his project Metropole where Lewis Bush is conveying a message about the over urbanization of london and how these new buildings in london are becoming more expensive and cramped, he alienates these buildings by using black and white and distorting the images, making them look chaotic and possibly torturous. they almost make me feel overwhelmed by how theres so much going on and how it feels as if the buildings are tangled and confusing yet intricate and complex.
I chose lewis Bush to research since his photos where so much more intriguing than the others i saw and you can feel the emotions he felt through his photos and his discontent for this issue, also i would like to use his message in a way however in different context and to a more personal level.
